New York University
New York University uses PolicyMap to help students who don’t have much GIS experience conduct socio-demographic analysis.
“[PolicyMap] has sources of data you can visualize in a way that makes sense to you.”
Andrew Battista, NYU’s Librarian for Geospatial Information Systems, wanted an accessible and simple GIS tool for his students to use without learning new software.
With PolicyMap, Andrew was able to find datasets in a more accessible location than the data’s source. Students were able to save time by having point-based data appear instantly on a map. The Food Studies program makes great use of data from the USDA, and the Wagner School of Public Policy uses the 2016 election data extensively. Because of PolicyMap’s intuitive platform, his students rarely have problems using the site.
